Phi Sigma Sigma Awards Dani Weatherford the Josette George Kaufman Interfraternal Service Award

Phi Sigma Sigma is proud to announce the recipient of the prestigious Josette George Kaufman Interfraternal Service Award: Dani Weatherford. The Josette George Kaufman Interfraternal Service Award is presented to an individual who has, through their interfraternal contributions, brought honor, distinction, and prestige to the name of Phi Sigma Sigma at the national or international level.

Dani Weatherford, Chief Executive Officer of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the fraternity/sorority community, building relationships throughout the industry and championing the sorority experience amid the changing landscape and challenges such as Abolish Greek Life Movement and COVID-19.

“It is Phi Sigma Sigma’s privilege to recognize Dani’s dedication to the NPC community and sorority experience with the Josette George Kaufman Interfraternal Service Award, Phi Sigma Sigma’s highest level of recognition awarded to a non-member,” said Tess Stovall, Grand Archon of Phi Sigma Sigma. “We are very thankful for Dani’s support over the past decade. Her partnership and communication over the past year as the fraternity/sorority community navigated a difficult situation at the University of Maryland was instrumental and is just one of the many contributions she has made to the Panhellenic community.”

This past year, Dani was an incredible partner as Phi Sigma Sigma and the local fraternity/sorority community navigated the University of Maryland’s suspension of Greek life activities. From regular updates to NPC organizations and hosting several community calls to working with university officials, Dani worked to make sure all NPC groups remained in the loop and could work together to support the sorority women at the University of Maryland. Additionally, Dani turned a public spotlight on the impact of the university’s suspension by writing an op-ed in a local Baltimore newspaper and took part in the Capitol Hill visits to educate the larger public about the situation. Her open communication and leadership during this time helped Phi Sigma Sigma and other sororities with chapters on this campus handle the difficult situation.

The award was formally presented during the NPC Annual Conference on October 19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dani was initiated as a member of the Delta Gamma Chapter at DePauw University. She earned her law degree at the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University and spent 15 years in higher education as the Director of Recruitment and Admissions at Indiana School of Law and the Director of Admissions at DePauw University. During this time, she remained active in volunteer roles with Delta Gamma. In 2015, Dani became the Chief Executive Officer of NPC. In this role, she oversees the organization’s strategic initiatives, communications, organizational development and financial management to ensure NPC and the Foundation meet their goals and objectives.
