Alison Burke, Assistant Director, Greek Affairs at the University of Rhode Island
Alyssa Ciango, Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Miami University of Ohio
Natalie Shaw, Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership at Muhlenberg College
Dr. Stephen J. Simo, Assistant Dean of Students, Student Engagement at the University of Rhode Island
The Outstanding Campus Professional Award is presented to a college/university campus-based professional who through their efforts strengthens a Phi Sigma Sigma chapter.
"Campus professionals play a vital role in the success of our chapters. They are mentors, advisors and advocates who help our sisters thrive. We are proud to honor the contributions of these dedicated individuals through the Outstanding Campus Professional Award,” said Tess Stovall, Grand Archon of Phi Sigma Sigma. “This year’s recipients provided unwavering support to our chapter leaders. We’re grateful for their collaboration, communication and partnership.”
Melissa Arroyo is a fantastic partner to Phi Sigma Sigma and our Iota Pi Chapter at Salem State University. She does an excellent job communicating university guidelines and policies to make sure the chapter is operating in compliance. She is available to the chapter’s executive board as a resource and is quick to answer questions to help the officers better understand their roles.
Alyssa Ciango’s support of the Iota Tau Chapter at Miami University of Ohio has been critical to the chapter’s progress in the spring 2024 semester. Alyssa worked with the Fraternity and local chapter officers to ensure a successful semester. She went out of her way to provide perspective, access and accommodation needed to promote a healthy membership experience. She is solution focused and supportive of staff partnership to meet the unique needs of our organization and chapter.
Natalie Shaw is a strong supporter of the Delta Lambda Chapter at Muhlenberg College. This year, Natalie helped the chapter navigate officer transitions, ensuring the chapter successfully transitioned duties to the incoming officers. This support was vital to the chapter’s success as the chapter did not have a chapter key advisor at the time. Natalie collaborated with Headquarters to assist the chapter in fostering positive relationships and a stronger sisterhood.
Dr. Stephen J. Simo and Alison Burke have been steadfast partners to Phi Sigma Sigma and the Gamma Zeta Chapter at the University of Rhode Island. They are quick to address both campus and chapter specific issues with sensible solutions that put the students first. As staff, they empower the chapters and campus leaders to evaluate complex challenges to determine where improvements could be made for a lasting impact. Stephen and Alison are both professional and humble in their interactions with members, leaders and staff.
